General Sir Collingwood Dickson VC GCB (20 November 1817 – 28 November 1904) was a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. ==Details==
He was 36 years old, and a Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Regiment of Artillery, British Army during the Crimean War when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC. On 17 October 1854 at Sebastopol, the Crimea, when the batteries had run short of powder, Lieutenant Colonel Dickson displayed great coolness and contempt of danger in directing the unloading of several waggons of the field battery which were brought up to the trenches to supply the want. He personally helped to carry the powder-barrels under heavy fire from the enemy.
